If they'd told me...

If someone said to me, " Yalei, by the time that melbourne uni panel comes round, you'd have stopped making Criterion" I would've said : No way. Well, guess what? That panel's on next week. What the hell am i going to tell a hundred creative writing students? I'm a failed editor, sorry guys. I guess in a sense, i can spin things to my advantage by giving them advice about what NOT to do and what you have to keep in mind. It's really gonna be awks having to be next to three other pretty accomplished editors :-S.
I'll always love this project that i decided to take on, but it all comes down to funding. Seriously, that's all there is. Plus i needed a team and i really didn't know of anyone who would've had the time to put into Criterion. In another w0rLd/T1m3/diM3nS1on.. Criterion is still going. But in this time/world/dimension, it's over and i've got a panel talk to go to that i'm kind of not prepared for. What do i say to them? It's gonna be embarrassing nonetheless, i've just got to grit my teeth and do it, really.

  1. As someone who is going to be in the audience for that panel next week, I think it will be refreshing to hear about the realistic pitfalls of small press publishing as opposed to the big success stories. So don't stress too much :)
