Studio Life
When i was living alone in my apartment in 2013, all i could think about was moving up in life and getting a bigger apartment. I always thought to myself, " I'll get a better job and earn more so i can have more furniture and better windows ". I guess my attitude has changed though. Now, I'm more and more interested in having less and less and with the things that i do have, i want them all to be of quality. It seems like this is the mantra that a lot of people my age are now adopting. We are all growing up together and maturing together and part of that is shedding the layers of ' crap ' we've accumulated. Part of my new attitude shift has to do with living arrangements. Whereas the idea of a studio apartment used to give me the heeby jeebies, now i've made up my mind that it's the next move i'm going to be making.
The good thing about studios is that once you're home, you're home. It's like living in your bedroom except you never have to really get up to fry an egg or make tea whilst you're watching your favorite tv show. It's a whole house crammed into one room and if you're lucky, you might even get a balcony. The other thing i really like about studios is that they force you to be tidy. Once a mess breaks out in a studio, there's no way to hide it. Everyone will notice it as soon as they walk into your apartment. I want to be as minimal and fuss free as i can be from now on and i love the idea of my living space forcing me to be more like this. Studio's are also cheaper than one bedroom apartments. And let's be real, i don't think i'll ever be able to afford a proper house or manor in Scotland ( ha ha ha ).
You guys also know that i'm a massive fan of Japanese anything and studios are SO Japanese. My studio will be utterly minimal. I'm talking about no bookshelves, just one desk, a bed and a lamp. I like the idea of all my furniture being low and floor bound as well. I'm into that aesthetic. Although after New York i'll probably be flat broke, i think i'm going to start saving to move into my first studio. It's gotten to the point where i don't even care what it looks like as long as the floor isn't carpeted and it's cheap. I'm pretty eager to be living on my own again. Japan will have to wait for some time in the future because i really want a studio apartment to call my own. How i live 90% of my days is more important than one trip that lasts for a few weeks to a month.
